YouTube MOC reviews

Keep in mind that I have a blocked nose. Like, all the time.

Anyway, what are your thoughts on the videos? Anything I could improve, anything in particular you'd like to see? Keep in mind that I'll always prefer posting pictures on their own ;)

Have a nice day, everyone.

Fun round of videos this time :D sadly I can't make a DOJM though because I don't have that 90 degree angled Technic piece. If I had those Rakshi backs in dark red like the ones on Makuta, I might be able to make an evil DOJM because I have most of those Technic pieces in black

Now that you mention it, I do have the Rahkshi backs in Mata Red... though the Rhotuka launcher and friends will still be grey. I'll leave you to have the evil DOJM if you so wish ;)

Also what piece is the 90 degree angle liftarm with the pins. Could you send me a Bricklink entry?

I think I also have the Rhotuka pull-string in black as well. So if I ever get the red Rakshi back I'll be sure to try it

Ah, I'd forgotten that the Rhotuka launcher comes in black. Huh. The grey liftarm you mentioned is here: [link]

ok,oh and why not like an ADD on Nyan? like if spore was in danger he could have larger arms to punch or wings to fly, but you would just peg them on but change the MOC only the parts added to him, like medabots in how they change arms and legs

You mean a bit like his attachable skis, but more battle-orientated? I'll think about it :D

kinda,[link] watch this, this is kinda the idea I had, kamen rider birht has a scorpion armour attachment and each part is used differant and thats the idea I had it would all just peg on so you could keep the build the same

Hmm... you know, that idea does sound pretty good, even if Niyyan isn't the most combat-orientated character. Let's see: skis, wings, grappling hook, perhaps? I'll toy with it :D

Well, I really, really like them. Its great to get to see them in video. Also, I don't think you sound too stuffed up. If people only hear your voice when you're stuffed up, they probably won't notice, until they hear you with a clear nose. But it really doesn't sound bad. Besides, I always have allergies in my let's plays, so I'm always clearing my throat lol. Personally, I would like to see something beyond this, I guess. Maybe a video of you building a moc? Or maybe taking apart part of one to show the inner structure? Just a thought. Either way, I'd like to see a longer video with your commentary.

Thanks for the comment! Currently the only videos I have 'planned' are more MOC reviews plus a Hero Faffory tour (essentially going round my house showing the various locations), though I'd quite like to keep YouTube as just a supplement to deviantArt. If you'd like I could do a longer video, even if my building style wouldn't work well with a time-lapse sort of thing (I tend to design MOCs a tiny bit at a time). Unless you mean dismantling and reassembling a MOC on camera? Yeah, I guess I could do that. If you have any specific requests, feel free to suggest and I shall think about it :D

Oh, and thanks for inadvertently reminding me about the video availability thing - I'd set all of them up to the Swordfish review as Unlisted, but I've changed most of them to Public now. Either I don't like the others enough, or I'm planning to re-do them. I think a montage of miniMOCs is in order at some point!

" Unless you mean dismantling and reassembling a MOC on camera?"
Yes! :D Definitely this. With commentary.

"I think a montage of miniMOCs is in order at some point!"

THIS. YES.

Also, I'd love to see a tour!

I'm not really a fan of time-lapse, and personally I think it would be best/most entertaining if while having a longer video, you just talk about anything you want to talk about. Anything. People love it best when you're in your natural state lol.

Hmm.. I would love to see the bigger ones unbuilt (is that even a word?) and rebuilt, lol. I would love to see how Niyyan works too.

The DOJM How-To and Minimontage are up, in case you haven't seen them :D If you want a good laugh, watch them with English Auto Captions. It's hilarious. In the meantime, I might consider showing Niyyan's inner structure, since he is my selfMOC after all =P

Yes, I expect so, but I shan't guarantee anything. In fact I recorded videos for Av and Psy a few days ago, but then realised that both of the videos were me practically reading out their deviantArt descriptions, so I deleted them ^^; I also think a minimontage is in order at some point - they can't take up much time each, but with about a dozen to choose from I think I'll have more than enough to talk about :D

Sounds ambitious, and I would consider it if it weren't for the many other projects I need to work on. Either way, that last bit sounds like something 3rdeye88's already done.

lol at everyone commenting on how you sound / your accent / your language / whatever, jesus

these are all very well done, man. good job!! You sound perfectly fine to me. No extreme stuffiness. Not even as awkward as I would've expected at all. Plus, the more you do, like, the more recent they become, the more confident you sound! You're just getting the hang of it and tbh i think you're really good so far, so honestly everyone pointing out that stuff, idgi

Really good videos! If I had to suggest anything, it would be to drag it into Movie Maker quick before the upload and cut out bits without anything in them? Silent bits. But like, that's not even necessary most of the time. They're cool. And I mean, you don't really wanna do anything major with the videos, is the feeling i get from you, so. Cool beans!

Really good!

:glomp: Agh! You're back on deviantArt! Aaah!

And yeah, I really should get round to learning basic video editing ^^; Unfortunately the video file isn't compatible with WMM, and just to save myself the bother I try to keep talking for the whole duration of the video. But thanks! :D

Very nice. I really like Niyyan's shoulder system. Though I'd imagine it makes him a little harder to reach forward or reach across his chest right?

Also, did you just recently add the video of your photo setup? I just caught that. no wonder you have such great photos. You're using a pretty nice camera. My step-dad has a cannon rebel. I've asked that if he upgrades, I want dibs on it. :P Its an older one, but it would suffice for my needs. :P

Rahiden Featured By Owner Jun 8, 2012  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
Yeah, Niyyan can't really reach across his chest much, but it's a worthy sacrifice given that he can reach his hands behind his head if he wants to (something that will be useful in Faffory 18 :D).
I actually added the photo setup video quite a while ago - maybe I should move the link to the same box as the others. And hey, your photos aren't bad :)

Hehe, You put his shoulders on backwards to how I make mine. If you actually rotate your shoulders you'll find they can't go back a whole hell of a lot, and I'm actually rather flexible, despite my size. I usually try to make it a point that my MOCs can reach across their chest. If they can't, then that really isn't acceptable arm movement for me.

Ah okay. Well I just now caught it. :P Oh well, that was two new discoveries for me. :D Aren't bad? Well with a crap ton of lighting, they aren't but any warm or lower level lighting and it can't focus for crap and I have no control over the composition. I'd point things around "the forge" more if I could focus out the background so everyone wouldn't see this myriad of parts behind the subjects, as well as what I'm currently working on. :P I doubt my Step dad would loan me his camera. I'm sure he uses it a lot now that he's back in a town with trains. He's a train nut. My camera isn't bad for what my folks payed for it. I just need something with a little more control. :P

Wait, let me correct myself: [link]
I'd forgotten that the extra balljoint can rotate 360 degrees =P

Yeah, not sure what to say about your dilemma there. Your photo quality really plummets once you're outside the white background+artificial lighting setup.

Oh wow. That's awesome. Can you "spotlight" his shoulder mechanism a little more? I'd like to see it. Matteo has an amazing shoulder system I really like his. It damn near replicates total human shoulder motion range. :) But I also consider that to be what I personally can do to move my shoulders and arms, and I've been told I'm pretty flexible. I can reach any spot on my back. I guess not everyone can do that?

Yeah exactly. You notice that when I try doing photos in my room. But those old nature photos of Matteo and other outside pics were done with that camera, so it does great natural light pics. :) So I'm not totally boned. I guess I just need to stay out of my room. :P

I could spotlight the shoulder system if you want, but like I said both the camera and video camera (and my Dad) are away right now, so I won't do it for a while.

Oh don't give me that shit. That's just an excuse for you to not be bothered. :P You have other fancyish cameras in the house, hell use your webcam if you must. It doesn't need to be anything special. Even a stash picture would do. :P I should post a poll asking if there's anything people want to see. :P I still need to make Matteo's messenger bag instructions. :P

Awesome videos! I'd like to request you review as many of them as possible (I love them all!) and/or do sweet video tutorials on how to come up with, design, and create a moc! Such as which pieces to use when, etc. Also my next let's play is going to be the original online bionicle game, hope you check it out! :D
